About the Artist
Inspired by local artist, Polly Mitchell, Natalie Welborn has been creating her own works from paper since 2008. She started taking a more serious focus on her craft in 2020 after discovering a plethora of international paper artists through social media.
With a focus on the natural world with both living and extinct flora and fauna, she masterfully utilizes special silky paper and surgical scalpels to make intricate cuts, highlighting the realistic details of her creations.
When working, she references photos and her own personal pieces, recreating them in stunning detail through an uncommon and meticulous medium. To keep focus, she listens to podcasts and audiobooks as she works, sometimes incorporating fantasy elements into her creations.
